Training Flights
We are an EASA declared training organisation (DTO) enabling us to take you right through your chosen course and carry out all the necessary training from our purpose built heliport close to Leeds/Bradford Airport.
We offer a number of courses depending on your requirements, from initial trial lessons to Private Pilots Licences (PPL(H)) and Light Aircraft Pilots Licences (LAPL(H)) through to additional Type Rating courses for different models of helicopter.
The Private Pilots Licence (PPL(H)) or the Light Aircraft Pilots Licence (LAPL(H)) are perfect for those who want to learn to fly for pleasure, enabling you to share your new passion and skills with friends and family. Light Aircraft Pilots Licence
The aim of the LAPL(H) course is to train the student pilot to act as Pilot in Command under the Visual Flight Rules on single engine helicopters with a maximum certificated take-off mass of 2,000kg or less and a maximum of three passengers such that there are never more than four persons on board the aircraft.
Private Pilot Licence
The aim of the PPL(H) course is to train the student pilot to act without remuneration as Pilot in Command or co-pilot of helicopters engaged in non-commercial operations under the Visual Flight Rules. Unlike the LAPL(H) course you can carry more than four persons and fly larger helicopters, upon completion of additional training.
Self Fly Hire
We offer a self fly hire for those holding a valid LAPL(H), PPL(H) or CPL(H). Whether you are flying for pleasure, hour building towards a professional licence or simply wanting to gain more experience, Heli-Jet Aviation can offer fantastic rates for Self Fly Hire as well as other added benefits with flying from Leeds Heliport. We operate a fleet of Robinson R22s as well as a Robinson R44 Raven II, which can be hired following a check flight with an instructor. Type Rating
We offer flight training for those wishing to add additional helicopter types to their existing CAA licence. Through our DTO we can offer type ratings on a range of different helicopters, including the Robinson R22, Robinson R44 and Bell 206. If you own your own helicopter then we can submit the necessary paperwork to allow us to train you on your specific helicopter, therefore offering you the familiarity required for safe operation.
